The Tories need to wake up to Britain's debt problem

The Conservatives may go on about the national debt, but what about our personal problems with money? Tricia Phillips tells it like it is

The Tory toffs, crowing after their general election victory, need to get a reality check on the shocking state of affairs in Britain today.

Every day 58 families end up on the street as their homes get repossessed and every six minutes and 13 seconds someone is made bankrupt.

The latest money statistics from The Money Charity show people are a million miles away from feeling better off.

Too many are heading deeper into the red with a staggering £1.47trillion owed in personal debt at the end of March this year, up from £1.44trillion in 2014 – an extra £579 per UK adult.

And over 40% of unemployed young people have been stuck on the dole for more than six months.

Those struggling the most have been hardest hit over the past five years as wage freezes, benefit cuts and escalating bills have meant they simply can’t make ends meet.

If you are worrying about keeping on top of your bills don’t ignore things and don’t struggle alone.
